Baby Food Test - Parsnips

Lately, I had been reading up to prepare for my daughter's solid food introduction soon.

One of the book I read had recommended parsnips. Before this, I had never heard of this vegetable and it was not available at any grocers. Alas, I found it at Village Grocer that sells imported goods.

Clockwise from top: sliced, mashed with water, and mashed with formula milk.

I only bought one tiny parsnips so that I could have a try on how to prepare and also try out this vegetable myself. If I don't fancy this, I shouldn't be forcing my daughter to take this.

Turn out, it's pleasantly good! The recipe (for baby's food) recommended to either steam or roast it. And for roasting, the recipe mentioned olive oil and oven, which I don't have both. Thus, I tried out by steaming.

I tried to puree by just mashing with fork and spoon but I couldn't achieve the consistency desired. Not to mention it's really tiring to mash with those! Need to go search for a blender or something.

I also let my daughter have a taste test of both with water and milk and she didn't reject either! Good sign, I guess. :)
